50 Year Old Collapsed Clay Pipe Replaced

Crews working for the Pearl River County Utility Authority are excavating a sewer main in order to replace a broken section of pipe. The 50 year old Clay pipe had collapsed and was causing the street to sink. The Utility Authority has secured a six million dollar loan from the state that will allow for repairs of the old sewer lines. The scope of work is being prepared by our engineer's and work should begin sometime in mid 2014.

The PRCUA owns and operates the sewer collection system in Picayune consisting of 60 lift stations and close to ninety miles of underground sewer lines.They also operate a new Wastewater treatment plant and a sewer treatment lagoon located on Airport Rd.

The map below shows the areas where the Utility Authority will be performing smoke testing on October 9th, 2013, between 8:00AM and 4:00PM.


New Board Member Sworn In

Steve Lawler was sworn into office at the September Meeting of the Pearl River County Utility Authority Board of Directors.

Lawler was a former president of the Utility Authority Board of Directors and was once again elected president at the meeting.  Tommy Breland, the outgoing president, was elected vice-president.
